Wedding Day Advice!

I have been getting some wonderful and scary words of advice from many brides recently married! The big one is... "just let things happen." I came across this blog from "These Little Moments" which I think gave the BEST advice and it is simply put! Oh and did you know we have 231 days till our big day?!!!! I leave you all with a breathtaking bouquet of flowers!

Non Traditional Taste

Dear Friends and Family,

It seriously cracks me up when I share my ideas with others and get a "huh?" response. You know..when their eyes become big and open and their jaw may slightly drop... or they try to give a "i dont' want to hurt your feelings" look...So, I will let it out now..I am not your traditional bride...nor Woman! Of course there are tons of "traditional" things I want for our May 30th..but can't I tweak...modify...? I am an Occupational Therapist..aren't I? Always creating...problem solving...and most importantly making it meaningful for my patients... Wouldn't it only be normal for me to be extra creative and symbolic? So, I am giving you all a heads up...it will be OKAY! Trust me... if my bridesmaids wear black...DON'T FREAK OUT! If the Mothers' don't have a corsage...it will be okay. (I think my idea for the Moms are even better!!!)If I wear gorgeous designer black heels...I hope you smile :) Here are some pictures of other daring brides!

Sharing Photos!

After every event...wedding...graduation...party or gathering I am always anxious to see all the photos! A new trend is posting a picture webpage. Friends and family can go online to upload their favorites and share with everyone and vice versa. So we decided to go with WinkFlash. I guess the hardest part is trying to figure out where to share this information. Maybe I should make a card with the information and have it at each table setting? That's just something else to put on that poor table! Hmm...so this is something I must add to the list! A lot of my friends are starting these types of pages for their little newborns! I am very anxious to see all the random photos! Once I design the card with all the info I will definately share!

Here is a cute picture for the post! Taken yesterday at Palos Verdes, Ca!

A Long Monday!

Darin and I just arrived back from PA! It was probably the fastest 5 days in my entire life! The weather was absolutely beautiful and the fresh air cured my homesick. On Monday, Darin and I traveled down to our venue with my parents and the two little loves. (Eli & Kingston) We started very early and didn't get home till the evening. We even traveled in 2 states! On top of everything...it was my Father's birthday! So, thank you Dad for sharing your birthday with with us!

The first stop was Boulder Ridge. Jamie (wedding coordinator) was able to meet my family and see our venue for the first time! My family absolutely loved the place and that was a huge relief! We were able to get a lot of questions answered and the most memorable moment was when my Father was worried that the dance floor was too small! I mean, he was really worried! So, add that to my list! Then I pulled out my damask pattern...put it on the table...took a step back and cringed! OMG! Ugh! I kept myself together..and looked at Jamie and my Mother and said..NOPE! But, I did learn that black tablecloths are now included with the venue! So, part of me was relieved but the other part thought...I don't think I want much damask...maybe touches. Now I need to regroup and come up with another "theme."

Karen Rodney Cakes- was our 2nd stop. How can someone pick out a cake? There are soo many choices, designs, colors, shapes and heights. Darin was looking thru some pictures and immediately said he liked "this one!" So, everyone I am proud to say that Darin has chosen the wedding cake! I was completely stunned and shocked but I really like it too! My parents concurred and we were done!

Our trip continued on....will post later! I'm just exhausted revisiting that day! Here is a picture that gives you an idea of what Darin picked out!

Little Man!

Kingston plays a huge role in our life and we couldn't imagine our life without him! Couples are starting to incorporate their furry loved ones in the ceremony. At first I was like OMG, Kingston has to be in our wedding...how cute would that be!? Then, I started to realize what a huge risk this would be! I can't even take him to PetSmart without him "marking" in the store! It is soo embarrassing...So, we aren't sure which way we will go. We could always do some wedding training! Yes my friends...I actually found a class...We also have to see if Kingston is allowed at our venue/hotel. But in the mean time, I found some adorable wedding gear for my little man! 3 different colors to choose from! I think I like the simple black bow tie.
I also found some adorable pictures of Real Weddings! 2 favs!

Mr. Postman!

So, all the STDs except for about 4 are in the mail. We are still waiting for addresses... Never realized what a pain it would be to get this information! As Darin and I were about to put them in the mail... we realized...THERE IS NO GOING BACK! :) We are nerds and he took a pic of me and my excitement! Now that the STDs are done.. I will be on the hunt for the perfect invite!

Check off the List!

I have been looking and searching for socks for the boys! I really wanted to find a pair of argyle with black and white color but I have come up empty handed! I honestly didn't think it would be this difficult! While I was window shopping the other day... I found these at Express. I bought a pair for Darin and well...his work schedule has been insane lately so...soon as he is home I'd like him to try them on and see how they look!

In the meantime, I am almost done with STDs and found these cute stamps at the post office! The postman himself assisted me in finding the best match! At first I was a little shocked that he would be this interested in helping me... he was definitely getting into it...holding them up with the envelopes... but I must say I am happy with the end results! So, a big thank you goes out to Albert Bierstadt and of course that postman dude :) Likey Likey?

Making progress..

These past couple of weeks have actually been very fun! It seems like everywhere I go..I find something else to purchase.. "oh that would be just perfect!" I am still in the early process of planning and considering that I live completely on the other side of the country doesn't make it any easier. I can say...it is nice to have access to more different types of stores out here in LA versus back in central PA!! Everything is at my fingertips out here...and well that could be very dangerous at the same time!! :) Here are some items that I have picked up on my various shopping trips!

First.. I totally fell inlove with these baskets: TJ Maxx. They will be used for the ladies room..I will fill them up with lotions..soaps..body spray..floss..My cousin did this for her wedding and I was in heaven with that body spray provided!! Especially after a whole evening of dancing! I also found these baskets at World Market and figured they would be perfect for programs. To put them together you lace up the sides and tie the knot :)

Flower Power!

I am definately leaning towards cream colored flowers...possibly some green for the BMs. My Mother made some calls and we are in the works to set up some times to meet with florists when we fly back east next month! So far...I'm loving...the Bells of Ireland for the BMs...against their black dresses! ...and all the cream/white bouquets for the bride! I think the biggest task will be how to decorate the venue. I am really anxious to work with the florist in decorating the fireplace... It's right infront of the dance floor!
