Bridal Show Tips!

It's that time of year again!

Getting hitched in the Central Pa area?

The annual Antique Auto Museum in Hershey PA is right around the corner!

February 19th

Ticket: $7 Advanced, $10 at the door

They will be hosting the annual cake dive, where one lucky bride to be will win a package worth over $10,000!

This alone would make me go!!!

Why should you go to a bridal show? Some questions I had going forward with planning my own wedding!

They can be so overwhelming and busy! Where do I start?

YES they can! But, remember go in with a plan. Do some research before hand on the vendors and prioritize! Which type of service do you need the most? Catering? Photography? You will be able to compare prices & services all in on day!

Who should I take with me?

First, If you are the major decision maker, bring someone you trust, for a different perspective. I recommend something who is also easy going and doesn't mind being your side kick for the day! Also- who will keep you on track checking off that check list! Oh, and take a camera, pen & paper.

How long do these shows last?

Depending on the show, it could be a couple hours to a full out weekend! So, remember look cute but wear something comfortable! Maybe those heels can should stay in the closet!

Should I sign a contract?

I personally wouldn't. Go home and look over everything! Make an appointment with that specific vendor so you can all sit down and feel confident when signing that paper. Remember, this is your BIG day and do your research on that vendor. If there is a specific vendor you know you want for your big day, I assume you already called them and signed the line :) Many of the vendors do offer "show specials." BUT make sure you are 100% sure!

Most importantly...put your name in for the free drawings for goodness sake & have FUN!

Cons-Pricey $100, especially if you are on a budge and/or wanted to get him something else! Besides that, you can't go wrong...

4. Lomokino Movie Camera- Is your Groom into photography/movie making? Throw in some vintage feel and you got yourself one of these! It shoots short movies. Click on over to learn more..cause there is!!

Pros-This camera won't break the bank! $78 Create movies together!

Cons- Works with 35mm film, so yes, you must wait for it to get developed.. It's been a while since we all had to do that... But the reviews says its worth it!

Cons- Make sure your Groom can pull off this look, not everyone can!

I know when I was searching for a Grooms Gift, it just wasn't easy!

Orange County Nuptials

On July 30th, our friends tied the knot! It feels just like yesterday we were at Vanessa's parents house for their engagement party! I shared her bridal shower too! I just had to share some of the details from their beautiful wedding! The reception was held at the Marriot Laguna Cliffs Resort.

Mr. & Mrs!

As you entered the cocktail area you were greeted with this beautiful table which held the place cards and bright colored flowers!

The Bride loves her bling! Which was carried out through the entire day!!

Their photographer created a very nice guest book for everyone to sign in a "yearbook" style. Signature cocktails..and delicious appetizers!

Flower Allie created all the beautiful floral designs! The bridesmaids wore adorable strapless black dresses.

The cake was delicious by the way..

Fresh flowers..and a little bling!

Between the lighting and decor the room had such a warm feel!

Another Monogram Use!

I thought I would share the out of town guest bags we put together

from the wedding!

The wedding was inspired around peacock feather colors.

The Bride found bags in a pretty perfect teal.

I added a "Thank You" tag, yeah I just couldn't resist! Yep, I found this FREE monogram over at The Wedding Chicks and added a "Thank You" on the bottom.

This was such an easy thing to do and it totally added that little "something" to the bags. As we were stuffing the bags with goodies it reminded me of the bags we threw together for our wedding day!

Rehearsal Dinner Details!

Along with my parents, we threw the dinner rehearsal for my brother's wedding. It was held at the Holiday Inn, Harrisburg, Pa. Here is a picture of the room.. Considering we never saw a picture of the room we totally lucked out and the colors we choose matched perfectly! I just couldn't believe how well everything came together! The room was set up different for the dinner.

A while back I remember Jessica's centerpieces (Tying the Knot) and thought how perfect they would be for the dinner! So, I snatched up 5 square cube vases, 3 large and 2 small. The vases were pricey, if I would have had an IKEA nearby or had more time to search I would have been able to save $$. Besides that, the rest of the supplies were cheap!

I believe we placed three floating candles in the vase and two votives on either side. I saved the votive candles from the bridal shower and were able to use them again! A red wine ribbon was wrapped and twisted around and super glue held it in place. I believe the ribbon width was approx 1 inch.

Above, is a picture of the smaller vase. I took this picture while we were setting up... I placed a white candle in the middle versus filling it with water. Again, the same set up with the two votive candles along with two monogram cards of which I have yet to mention. I found them FREE! over at Wedding Chicks, click HERE to take a look at them. You are able to choose from a variety of colors as well to match your theme for your event. Here is a picture of the one I created!

The centerpieces were just enough for this type of event. With all the candles lit, the room instantly warmed up. Everyone was really impressed with the monogram...if they only knew it took me 5 minutes to whip up! This will be our secret!

The night before the rehearsal, my friend Danielle came over and taught me how to bake some delicious white chocolate cupcakes and create tiny fondant flowers for that extra detail! I definitely learned alot and it was such a great time spending time with my friend!

We tried to match up the ribbon color to the fondant..and got to work! It is definitely time consuming but was totally worth it! Here is a quick pic of the cupcakes in action before all the food was brought out.

So, as I said earlier, we couldn't believe how the room matched the colors! The dark maroon chairs to the table skirts...we were just in shock! Oh and here is a picture of the invitations I put together for the rehearsal. I had tons of people come up to me and compliment how adorable they were..since we were having pasta I figured these would be perfect... I chose silver envelopes with Martha Stewart wrap around labels.

Back from the East Coast!

Wow, those two weeks flew by! I have much to share...all in good time!

We managed to get our annual picture on the Hershey Bar!!

2nd Anniversary!

Okay, so I'm one day late...oopps!

Wow, did those two years fly by.... seriously! The Husband and I have a mini getaway planned for next week when we return back to the East Coast! We will be heading to Philadelphia for a photo shoot with the talented Amanda from SwoonOverIt! (Super excited to meet her!)

I also let my Husband know that we need to add to our collection... (look below) maybe a chocolate syrup bottle would look nice along side our chocolate bar? Make it a fun little ritual...Chocolate World! We will see! We don't have anything big planned like last year..maybe for our 3 year we will be living in our OWN house back on the East Coast? :) Then we can throw a nice party.. hmmm!!!

We have definitely grown a whole bunch these past two years! I am so looking forward to the next couple and what it has in store for us! And to end this post... some lovely wedding hoopla pictures!!

On Ellen-Best Marriage Proposal

A Pink Shower Soiree!

This past weekend I attended my friend Vanessa's bridal shower. It was held at Joseph Filippi Winery and Vineyards in Rancho Cucamonga. The day started off cloudy but then the sun came out it and it turned out to be a beautiful day!

Pink, pink and more pink! So lets get started with some details!

Each table setting had a vase filled with pink hearts and glass pebbles. Fresh flowers sat atop and looked beautiful. Pink pebbles and wedding word confetti were scattered around... along with a bottle of champagne!

Each guest was given a champagne glass from the winery. They were filled with yummy pink jelly beans!

At each place setting sat a wine cork holding a variety of beautiful quotes...click to enlarge.

The strawberry water...was seriously delicious and refreshing!

My favorite part was the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!

I loved the three tiered crystal stand.

Some delicious yummy desserts!

Strawberries.....what a creative way to display and serve them to your guests.

And now..some pictures of us ladies! The beautiful bride is wearing bright blue!

They even decorated the tall plants in the background..

An East Coast Bridal Shower

I was back east the other weekend to throw my soon to be SIL a bridal shower! It was a beautiful day and we had about thirty guests! It was held at the Hershey Pantry, Hershey PA.

Now, lets get to all the pretty pink details!

When we arrived, they had the napkins folded like this...not exactly what I wanted but we didn't have the time to redo all of them. We placed the favor packets and place cards at each setting.

Affordable and delicate... pink daises were placed on all the tables! Tiny bling confetti (found at Pier One) were placed around the small votive candles which softened the tables.

I wanted to make a "wishing " tree and went to the florist to pick up some manzanita branches when she offered to rent me this blinged out tree ready to go! I couldn't say no! Saved me time and money! I purchased one yard of soft pink fabric to wrap around the bottom. It turned out super nice!

An up-close shot, I found these monogram labels template over at Martha Stewart. I printed them on a pearl white and two shades of pink cardstock. Light pink ribbon finished them off! I also placed two strands of crystals on the branches.

Sweet notes of love were placed on all the cards from our guests. It looked sooo pretty! Here is a picture of the bride to be and her wishing tree :)

I created the placecards with a friend who has a cricut! We created three different sized daisy shapes and placed a pink gem in the middle. They turned out adorable! A bit time consuming but worth every second. From a previous post, I created seed packets as the favors. Instead of using seeds we placed a tea bag instead. You can find the template here. Again, everything came together so nicely.

One of my favorite details were the pink straws I snatched them up over at The Party Fairy. Tons of compliments and I had a few left over to enjoy for myself :) The citrus water was delicious by the way!

I am not a huge fan of of the traditional "bridal shower" games so I went on a hunt for something simple, fast and different. I came across these scratch off cards over at Nifty Pear. Everyone appeared to really enjoy it and we had a couple winners in the mix! The cards were truly adorable and perfectly matched our theme of pink daisies!

About three months ago I was shopping in Anthropologie and found five bottles of hand sanitizers placed in burlap bags. I added some pink ribbon and oh my they were cute! They smelled super good too! "Pure & Good" were written on the bag. I found them in pink and an olive green. Original price $7 and I got them for $2.50 a piece! What a deal...!!

A spring salad was served and then a three tiered plate of different sandwiches was placed in the middle of the table for our guests to choose from. For dessert, a bar full of a variety of sweets! Chocolate covered strawberries, lemon squares, mini apple pies, variety of cupcakes and more!

I couldn't resist a beautiful pink bouquet...so I had the florist create a little something for the bride to be as a gift..The pink hydrangeas were gorgeous!

What a great day it was and we are looking forward to the wedding!

Jasmine Star & THON!

As many of you know, I am a Penn State Alumni! I am also a huge fan of our annual THON! Never heard of it? Oh let me quickly explain...Largest student-run philanthropy in the world! We raise a ton of money for awareness of pediatric cancer. PSU has helped many families and has brought a large amount of joy to many children. In fact, many of the families attend the 48 hour dance marathon and cheer on the dancers.

A couple from the Philadelphia area contacted Jasmine Star to shoot their wedding..but had something special in mind. The bride asked if they could auction off a spot for a third photographer and 100% of all proceeds go to THON!! The couple are active participants with THON and both are medical students at PennState! Long story short, Jasmine Star said yes and now the auction has begun! Check out a few pics of this extremely generous couple.

This story puts such a huge smile on my face...and makes my heart happy!

By the way..the auction bid..is up to $2500.00!!!!

They had vintage styling and books stacked for the cake!

The bride's brother created the letterpress invitation..hence the inspiration for the wedding cake.

I think Jasmine did an amazing job!

What to wear...it can definitely be the most stressful part of your engagement or family shoot. I'm an avid reader of Hazelnut Photography's blog and had to share this great post! Da Fashionista shared some great tips for "What to wear on your engagement shoot!!"

My favorite tidbit is to wear nude heels because they will lengthen your legs!

DIY Seed Packets

I'm helping to throw a bridal shower this coming April and have been hard at work creating some nice DIY projects. I came across this free seed packet template over at Ruffled!

They give you three different designs to work with...I couldn't make up my mind so I'm using them all! Using a light pink cardstock (The Brides favorite color) I printed off several sheets! Here are a list of items I used.

paper cutter (makes it go faster)

scissors

creaser & bone folder

self healing mat

double stick tape

It takes a while to crease and cut them all out so maybe do a couple each night so you don't get burned out :) Here are a few pictures!

Here is a picture of the creases...which totally makes it 100% easier to fold nice and precise!

All that is left is to fill them with flower seeds!

I am not sure what to put on the packet..possible the type of flowers seeds it will contain.. we will see! It felt good to jump into a DIY project..it's definitely been a while!

A little info on these lanterns.. They are 99-100% biodegradable and made of flame resistant paper. They come in several colors and designs. I found prices ranging from $3.50 to 4.25 depending on the volume purchased.

Do you watch General Hospital? I've been a loyal fan since the early 90s! This week is Brenda and Sonny's wedding and I must say...I'm loving Brenda's dress and the pale pink accents.. I posted a mini clip from the show.

Brenda's beautiful gown is by Oscar De La Renta. It is ever so dreamy...

It is an embroidered guipure strapless gown with a pale pink silk taffeta draped bow.

Guipure means, "heavy large pattern decorative lace."

For Christmas I purchased a personalized wedding hanger for my soon to be SIL! I went thru Lila Frances and it took a little over two months to receive it in the mail! So if you are interested they will begin to take orders on February 1st! Plan early Ladies :)

She asked us many questions and then asked, "Have you practiced your kiss?" We looked at each other like "what?" Oh, she was serious too! We thought about it and came to the conclusion that we must figure out what and how we want to do this! Her last comment to us that day was more of a recommendation. "Now, go out to dinner tonight and do not speak one word about this wedding!" I laughed...and that night I caught myself like three times starting to chat about our big day! It was soo hard to do!

Just got married? Want to share a little picture of your big day to others? Check out this simple snazzy card! I just received this card in the mail yesterday and I had to share! This card is from my friend Teresa who tied the knot last October!

This is definitely one of my favorite pictures..so glad they chose this as their official 2010 Holiday picture!

Printed "Merry Christmas" on the front, made two slits in the paper, and slid the

photo right into place.. So simple and creative!

This time last year we were sending out pictures from our big day for the Holidays! Wow, did that year go by fast! I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas with your family and friends!

Last weekend, I helped out my friend who is a makeup artist, do a fun mock up wedding shoot... The photographer, Jordana (Hazelnut Photography) was there to capture the beautiful pictures! So, now we are waiting... and waiting to get our hands on them! She posted one up on Twitter, stating it was her favorite! Take a peak at my friend Anna in her vintage dress :) Oh and my necklace! :) Looks like its straight out of a magazine!

Anna hasn't worn this dress since her wedding day...she loved being able to throw it on and feel beautiful in front of the camera!! It was a very busy and chaotic day but I know we got some amazing shots! Soon as I get the rest I will share!

They are great quality and turned out perfect! I went with the light brown whiskers.

I am such a huge fan of ring dishes..Lately, I have been ordering them for all my recently married/engaged friends!
